Experienced in all phases of urologic care Dr Werner’s special interests are in the diagnosis and treatment of urologic malignancies, (prostate, kidney, bladder and testis), Benign Prostatic Diseases  and female urinary incontinence. He is experienced in  the surgical treatment of prostate cancer as well as Radioactive Seed Implantation, (Brachytherapy), and Combined Therapy, and skilled in both endoscopic and shock wave treatment for urinary stones. Dr. Werner does all the brachytherapy, (seed implants), for the practice.

    Dr Werner served on the faculty at Albert Einstein, and subsequently on the faculty of George Washington University School of Medicine,  as an Assistant Clinical Professor, for many years. He is on the teaching faculty of the Washington Hospital Center Department of Urology, and the Prince George's Hospital Internal Medicine residency. He served as an Advisor to Project Hope, teaching Urology in Guatemala. He was Chairman of the Department of Urology at Prince George’s Hospital Center from 1981 to 1994, and then became President of the Medical Staff . He also served on the Boards of Directors of Prince George's Hospital Center and of Dimensions Healthcare System, its parent corporation.  He served as an officer and President of the Washington Urologic Society.   He was a founder and President of IATROsystems/Praxis Medical Systems and a founder, officer and director of urOKare, a urologic IPA. He is currently Director of Quality for the Metropolitan Ambulatory Urologic Institute, and MidAtlantic Mobile Lithotripsy. He is a Distinguished Faculty Member of the Consortium for Improvement of Erectile Function.

Dr Werner is married to Dr Ann Werner, a pediatrician in PG county. He has four grown children, Jeanine, an oncologist in Annapolis, MD, Justin, a toy designer & Senior VP of manufacturing of a sporting goods firm, Julie, a hospital think-tank Project Manager and Jody, who is a Team Manager working with internationalization of commercial computer programs. He has  5 grandchildren.

His hobbies include flying, tennis, skiing, computers, travel and travel photography. His first one man photography exhibit, World View 1, has been on display since June 2004 at the art space at Doctor's Community Hospital in Lanham, MD.  Dr Werner is a well known raconteur and loves to make people laugh.  He has developed werner's laws and is webmaster of wmfurology.com.
